It seems a lot of people are creeped out by or scared of clowns, dolls and/or mimes, so take the poll, then tell us why these things get to you.  You might be surprised how many people share similar experiences.

My mother bought a painting of a young girl (16-ish) holding a baby. It always creeped me out and I never wanted to be in the same room with it. (I would have been around 12 at the time she bought it.) I used to hear voices coming from their bedroom where it hung. Even after we moved into a new house, I still didn't want to be anywhere near it. I made such a fuss about it that she eventually put it up for sale at an antique store that my friend's mother worked at. While hanging out there one day, we were sitting underneath the place where the painting had been propped up. We didn't bump or knock into anything, and it fell on me and scared me to death!

Someone eventually bought it. I wonder if it was just me, or if it creeped anyone else out.

Dolls are definitely a little creepy. The older cupie dolls. That kind that have the eyes open and shut when they lay down. They just seem kind of bizarre to me. You're right though it all about the eyes.  They do seem to follow you.

Come to think of it, I was afraid of most old baby dolls and porcelain dolls when I was a kid. They still creep me out.

Dolls have never bothered me but I have been a little freaked out by clowns. I don't like them around at all. I don't know if it has to do with the Stephen King Book "IT" or if it is just a fear that has always been there. I would go out of my way to avoid being around them.

I have never had an encounter with a doll but they scare the bejeebies out of me and I am not sticking around long enough to have an experience with one. LOL!  There is little that really scares but dolls make me quake in my boots!

My grandparents on my father's side owned an antique shop.....or house I should say.  It's best described as an old farmhouse in Maine.  Their entire house was full of antiques and the front parlor was exclusively stuff for sale.  My grandmother kept a doll collection there and I was never totally comfortable around them except during the daytime.  We used to sleep in the bedrooms on the second floor and had to walk to the first floor to use the bathroom at night.  Scared me to death to have to walk past that parlor at the bottom of the stairs.

When I was small, my mom would walk down to visit a neighbor.  This lady would give me a 'doll' to play with while the two of them had coffee in the kitchen.  This 'doll' was an Aunt Jemima-looking stuffed doll.  She had a long white apron.  If you flipped the doll over, her apron became a clowns costume and the head was that of a clown.  It was a reversible doll.  I didn't mind the Aunt Jemima end of the doll, but, the clown creeped me out.  I can remember sitting there on the floor, peeking under Jemima's apron at the scarey clown face.  Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.....

I still don't like clowns!  LOL

It's amazing how many people don't like clowns.  My nephew has hated clowns since he was a toddler.  He says all clowns should go back to hell where they came from.  We don't know why he hates clowns, to the best of any of out memories he was never scared by one, it just seems he came into this world thinking clowns are evil.
