New Investigation Old Gilchrist Co. Jail

New Investigation at Old Gilchrist County Jail in Trenton, Florida, May 22, 2010.  I met up with Hogtown Ghost Trackers and this jail is owned by one of their team members.  I am waiting to here back from Janelle as far as address and directions to facility.  

Here is some info I was able to gather:

Hey all – I had the pleasure of meeting Hogtown Ghost Trackers, Gainesville, at Miss Caroline’s in March of this year.  The team members are good folk and like us, take investigating very seriously.  Janelle mentioned to me, at the time, that she had access to an Old Jail, as one of the team members own it.  It is the Old Gilchrist County Jail in Trenton, Fl., AKA the Old Trenton Jail.  It is a neat looking facility and they have reported activity going on there.  It was built either in 1926 or 1928 and closed up in 1968 or 1969.  There is a house on the property that was built (late 60’s) and used only for two years.  Before being built, the inmates where alone at night with no guard on duty.  Therefore, the house was built for the safety of the prisoners.  It is in OK condition, but way out of city codes.  The jail has eight cells; five cells are upstairs; three cells are downstairs.  Seven of the cells are two men cells while one cell will house four to six men. Each cell has a toilet and sink with one shower upstairs and one shower downstairs.  There was mention of a hanging in the large cell but it turned out that the individual died from alcohol poisoning.  The owner does not know the name or when this took place.  Janelle is still trying to find some history on this.  Some of the activity is possible shadow people, EVP’s, several good hits on the Ovilus and they hear strange sounds through out the building.  Janelle told me that they now have electricity and a bathroom!  Yeah, makes it sooooo much better - -

Hello Team,

     We have the Jail and house to do so it should be a good night!

         I figure we should be arriving between 2 and 3 PM, we will be setting up outside near the power pole . Remember to bring a chair for sitting, also anybody that wants to should bring a respirator or dust mask. Its like the Green Cove Springs Jail. Pealing led based paint and whatever else might be falling down in the air. Also bring whatever food and drink and snacks you want for the evening, there is no place close by to eat. Parking will be inside the fence, its a rough area but we should not have any problems other than a few locals pearing in.
