THE GHOST HUNTERS BASIC TOOL KIT

The ghost hunter of today can be more prepared than ever with a wide array of affordable devices that have been adapted for use in paranormal research. The items that we will be discussing here are not the most complex or the most sensitive that exists, but they do fall into the range of devices that are affordable to the average person. The items in this "essential tool kit" can be purchased by anyone but all equipment takes practice and knowledge about how to use them. Never (and I can't stress this enough) go out on an investigation if you do not know how to properly use your equipment!
Also, don't ignore the basic items on this list in an attempt to get more technical. Ghost hunters operated for many years, and got good results, using nothing more than basic items, good instincts and a camera.


Basic Items:
1.   A Notebook, Pen and Paper (for recording notes and mapping the area of investigation) a laptop is better but not essential.
2.   Extra Batteries for all of your equipment that requires them. Batteries have been known to fail at the most inappropriate times.
3.   Flashlight (Should not need an explanation)
4.   Measuring tape of device. For mapping of the area of the investigation, Checking Distance, and measuring areas of witness accounts.
5.   Extra Film, DVD, SD Cards, & Recording Tape for Cameras and Audio Recorders.
6.    A small tool kit that has screwdrivers that fit you equipment. You never know when you might have to make an emergency repair or change a battery.
7.   Camera. Either Digital or 35 MM
8.    Motion detectors. (Can be used for securing areas and also letting you know if something moves in a secure area.)
9.   Sound recording devices either small tape recorders or Digital. ( I like digital there is no machine noise to filter out of EVP)
10.    Black string and tape to check for equipment tampering.   
11. A First Aid Kit and insect repellent
 
12 Cell phone or walkie talkies
Electro-Magnetic Field Meters:
   This is one of the most common devices use by the modern day Ghost Hunter. Most paranormal investigators it is considered to be the most reliable item in their kit for measuring paranormal energy. Now I have to add that this equipment can be influenced by non paranormal items in the environment. Anything that is giving off a high level of energy (Microwave oven, TV, Power lines etc.). The paranormal investigator should be able to know how to use his equipment and tell if it’s a non paranormal item giving of the energy. 

Tempter and Humidity Sensing Equipment:
   When recommending equipment to any paranormal investigator I always include a temperature reading device and a humidity reading device. The ambient temperature around a possible manifestation shows a change in temperature of degrees or better. Humidity devices are relatively cheap and can be used in conjunction with your temperature reading device to record the conditions inside and outside of the investigation site. And will also help rule out any natural effects that may appear on photographs taken.       

Other Equipment:
   This by all means in not a complete list of all equipment used by the paranormal investigator, but is enough to get started with. And you can and will add equipment as your budget allows. Than you can add the fancy stuff at a later date
