St Augustine Lighthouse Investigation

Marc Tetlow, Ideal Event Management, organized the ghost hunt and got Shawn a ticket at the last minute (so that makes him way cool in our book)

Q&A Session with Rob and Dustin before the hunt:
Okay, I admit this is a fun “fan of the show” thing to do, but so what…its fun! Hey, I’m still a real ghost hunter even though I did get autographed pictures for my office wall…
Asides from the usual questions that some folks had to ask (why do you wear your hat backwards? how is the food in those foreign countries?), I did learn that the GHI team does try to ask the EVP questions in the foreign language of the county they are visiting. They do get answers in those foreign languages. Sometimes they get answers in English, especially in European countries as many Europeans speak English asides from their native tongue (at least they did before they died and became a spirit).
They have local ghost hunters help them formulate the question in the native language and then they try to learn those phrases. You hardly ever see them trying this on the show. This is because they usually butcher the language so bad the show editors won’t show it because they are afraid of offending viewers who speak the language and citizens of the country in question. Occasionally, they must rely on hotel staff to help with translation of evp.
   So, I think that if we can, and if it’s appropriate to the case, we should try using the native language of whoever we are asking to communicate with us. I tried this at the lighthouse last year and it worked great (spoke to any Spanish caballeros listening in Spanish). I did it again this year with the same great results.

Ghost Hunt 9 pm -2 am
Cold, clear night, lots of stars.
Personal experiences:
1) Heard the sound of footsteps coming from the ballroom of the light keeper’s house while we were on the first floor. After checking, no one was up there. This was during an EVP session with our group and Rob.
2) While standing on the lawn in front of the lighthouse I felt a warm hand very lightly touch the back of my head. I turned around and no on was there. This was not a frightening touch; it actually felt really nice, like a friend had touched me. It took a few seconds for me to realize what had happened, it was shocking, and I am still questioning if I imagined it.

Evidence:
EVP session, in Spanish, behind the lighthouse. I sought to repeat the same experience as last year. I placed the recorder on the brick wall and began, in Spanish, reintroducing myself to whoever was out there. Shawn and Jim were with me. Almost immediately we heard the sounds of horse’s footsteps. This phenomenon was the same as last time I did this. We also heard the sound of an animal, sounded like a goat bleating... There should be no goats anywhere near the lighthouse. However, this sound did not show up on the recording.
    Shawn kept smelling human sweat and I smelled something like ozone. Jim felt he was touched and also thought he saw someone walk behind us. There was no one there. This all happened in a short 11 minute EVP session.
    Upon review of the EVP three strange noises are clearly heard. The best I can describe them is a hollow, metallic sound on the first two, the last sound is a shriek. I think the shriek is either a bird or this fan that makes a similar noise in the ladies restroom nearby. However, I did not hear it at the time I was making the recording. I thought too, maybe the first noise was the sound of someone messing with the light keepers oil bucket in the tower. However, once again, I did not hear this at the time the recording was being made. Last years EVP showed two growling noises I response to questions.
Independent verification: at the reveal the next day two women told me they heard similar growling noises while sitting in the lighthouse 
   Shorty after, Shawn and Jim went down the path behind the lighthouse tower and reported being followed. They heard distinct footsteps behind them. Then Dustin and the rest of us tried it again with similar results.
   The historical aspect of this is that allegedly some Spanish pirate types are buried out back of the lighthouse somewhere.

After the hunt:
Shawn and I had breakfast with Dustin, Marc Tetlow and the guys from GRASP. Had a great time, laughed so hard my stomach muscles hurt the next day. Check out my “fan” photos and the EVP. Please excuse my Spanish. I grew up on the south Texas border so its kind of “border” Spanish, I am really out of practice, it was cold, my brain was tired and it was late.
